Why import from the UK?
The UK has one of the largest markets for used commercial vehicles in Europe. Prices are often lower than in Cyprus, and you avoid paying UK VAT when the vehicle is exported (we reclaim it). You then pay only Cyprus VAT (19%) on the customs value, which typically saves €2,000–€5,000 compared to buying the same van locally.
- Wider choice of makes, models, and specifications
- Trade and dealer stock not available in Cyprus
- Transparent landed cost: no hidden fees
Taxes and fees
For UK-origin commercial vehicles imported into Cyprus, the following apply (as of our last update; always confirm with official sources).
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Import duty (UK origin) | €0 |
| Cyprus VAT | 19% on customs value |
| Excise duty (commercial) | €0 |
| Registration costs | ~€205 |
| Shipping (RoRo, indicative) | ~€1,100 |
| Port handling & customs clearance | ~€200–350 |
The customs value is typically: UK net price (ex-VAT) in EUR + shipping + port/customs fees. VAT is then calculated on that total. We show the full breakdown on every vehicle and in the Cost Calculator.

- Handover — You collect your van drive-away in Cyprus.
Timeline
From deposit to handover, allow approximately 4–6 weeks: 1–2 weeks for UK paperwork and loading, 2–3 weeks shipping, and about a week for customs, VAT, and registration in Cyprus.
Euro 6 advantage
Vehicles meeting Euro 6 emissions (typically from 2015 onward) have a significant advantage in Cyprus: no road tax surcharge. Older Euro 5, Euro 4, etc. attract an annual surcharge. We highlight Euro 6 on our stock and in the calculator so you can factor this into your decision.
Annual running costs
After import, budget for: annual road tax (commercial vehicles typically €150–€299 depending on engine size and Euro standard), MOT (when due), and insurance. We show an estimated road tax on each vehicle detail page. You can use the official road tax calculator (linked below) for exact figures.

FAQ
Do I pay UK VAT?
No. When a VAT-qualifying commercial vehicle is exported from the UK, UK VAT is reclaimed. You pay only Cyprus VAT (19%) on the customs value in Cyprus.
What is the customs value?
It is typically the UK net price (in EUR) plus shipping and port/customs clearance fees. Cyprus VAT is calculated on this total. Import duty is €0 for UK-origin vehicles.
How long does shipping take?
RoRo shipping to Limassol usually takes 2–3 weeks. From deposit to handover, plan for about 4–6 weeks in total.
What does “drive-away” mean?
The total drive-away price includes the vehicle, shipping, all Cyprus taxes (VAT), and registration. You can drive the van away once we hand it over—no extra hidden fees.
Why is Euro 6 better for road tax?
In Cyprus, Euro 6 vehicles have no annual road tax surcharge. Euro 5 and older attract a surcharge (e.g. €175–€600 per year depending on standard). We show Euro 6 on our vehicles and estimate road tax on each listing.
